IED is an ultra-clean, incredibly streamlined, updated version of Steve Cook’s original classic effect. A slimline, leather ID wallet is openly displayed; all that is visible within is a single envelope and a Duke University business card, the wallet is shown to be otherwise completely empty. A participant, in the fairest manner imaginable, decides on one single playing card. At the climax, the wallet is opened, and the envelope is removed. The envelope is then opened, and one face-down playing card is cleanly removed from within. After the requisite dramatic pause, the single card is fully shown, front and back, and seen to match the participant’s thought-of card.
