Description The English dictionary defines the word Fortuito as accidental [adjective] (opposite deliberate) happening by chance or accident. However, I really believe that the actions we take, can create our future. This is the topic for this routine that I have presented with great success for many years in my corporate shows. Now Paul McCaig and I are offering you the full routine, with all the professionally made props, and bonus ideas. The effect: You show the audience a stack of cards composed of around 45 different words. These cards are mixed by numerous members of the audience and then left in view on the table. A participant is asked to make three specific choices. First they are asked to select one of the different words, and without looking at it, place the card in their pocket. Then the same participant is then instructed to choose five members of the audience, requesting each of them to stand directly behind one of the five, ‘X’ marks the spot’ place mats, lined-up on the floor, along the front of the stage. The performer displays five A4 black plastic cards with bold white images, which are thoroughly mixed in a way decided by the participant, then handed-out one at a time to each of the five other participants, the performer requesting that the participants hold the images to their chest so that no-one at all knows who has randomly received which image. The five participants are then asked to pick-up the ‘X’ cards on the floor in front of them, and to slowly turn both plastic cards towards the audience. To everyone’s amazement the image on each the front of each randomly generated card exactly matched the image on the reverse side of the ‘X’ card which the participants stood behind! As a big finale, the performer points out to all that in sequence, the first letter of each image spells out the word DREAM !!….The exact freely chosen word that is written on the card, which has been in the pocket of the first participant from the very start of the routine!! This is a perfect routine for any kind of mentalism show. I have also performed during my motivational talk (when I have only been given a fifteen minute slot) as it is very visual, fills the stage, involves six people but impacts the whole room! We chose to use the specific word DREAM for the revelations, as it is globally recognized and is easy to fit to any topic, such as removing self-limiting beliefs, motivation, goal setting and much more. Of course this can also be used as a classic chair test routine, with the matching of the images but I think that the strength of this stage routine is to be able to deliver a strong message. We also have included an extra bonus finale that will allow you to reveal a specific message or company slogan. Technically is very easy to perform and is based on classics methods, and you only need to concentrate on the presentation. Fortuito is also a great routine to introduce your show to the corporate market ,as it can be easily customized for your client. The A4 plastic cards are secretly marked so you can use them in any other routine where you need to secretly discern a chosen image.
