DUE R3 SAM3X8E is an ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller board based on the Atmel SAM3X8E processor. It’s the first Arduino board to use a microprocessor with a 32-bit ARM core. It contains 54 digital input/output pins (of which 12 can be used as PWM outputs), 12 analogue inputs, 4 UARTs (hardware serial ports), an 84 MHz clock, USB OTG capability, 2 DAC (digital to analogue), 2 TWI, a power jack, an SPI header, a JTAG header, a reset button, and an erase button. To get started, simply connect the board to a computer using a micro-USB cable or power it using an AC-to-DC adapter or battery. All Arduino shields that function at 3.3V and follow the 1.0 Arduino pinout are compatible with the Due. The Due’s pinout is as follows: TWI: Nearby SDA and SCL pins to the AREF pin. IOREF: Allows a shield to adapt to the voltage given by the board if it is properly configured. This allows shield compatibility with 3.3V boards like the Due as well as 5V AVR-based boards. An unconnected pin is reserved for future use. The Arduino Due board runs at 3.3V, which is different from other Arduino boards. The I/O pins can withstand a maximum voltage of 3.3V. Providing greater voltages to I/O pins, such as 5V, may cause harm to the board.
